Ultrasound
Ultrasonography is type of diagnostic technique that uses ultrasound waves to produce an imaging study. This means that when we perform ultrasonography, we can see all the internal organ images of patients' body. Unlike some other imaging studies like x-rays this modality does not use radiation. Instead, ultrasonography uses high frequency sound waves to create picture of what is inside of your pet's body. This modality can help us to identify various changes within the body Ultrasound is a completely non-invasive painless way to diagnose & evaluate many common diseases. In order for the ultrasound machine to create the best possible diagnostic image of your pet, the area of interest needs to be clipped of all hairs. This might mean a large haircut depending upon your pet body size while the use of ultrasound is painless, your pet might require mild sedation if they are painful or uncomfortable Your pet should be fasted the morning of the procedure in case sedation is required and to prevent food in the stomach from blocking the view of organs If your pet require sedation, we will make sure they have recovered fully prior to leaving the clinic. Fine needle aspirate of organs or lymph nodes can also be performed with ultrasound guidance, depending on the size and location of the desired area.
